The transcendental knowledge of Bhagabad-gita is spoken by Lord Krishna so that mankind can understand the real purpose of human life. Bhagavad-gita is also known as Gitopanisad. It is the essence of Vedic knowledge and one of the most important Upanisads in Vedic literature. Gita Jayanti Celebration is the day when Lord Krishna, about five thousand years ago, delivered the confidential knowledge of devotional service in the form of the Bhagabad-gita to His dear most friend Arjuna the Battle of Kurukshetra.
On the on 8th December, 2019, ISKCON Swamibag temple celebrated the festival of Gita-Jayanti, commemorating the glorious occasion when Sri Krsna spoke Bhagavad-gita to Arjuna. The full day program included performance of “Gita Parayana” or recitation of the entire Bhagabad-gita, followed by a discussion on the light of Bhagavad-gita. Bhagabad-gita and other vedic scriptures were profusely distributed at the end of the program, in celebration of Srila Prabhupada’s book Marathon. ISKCON Uttara (Sri Sri Radha-Raman temple) also celebrated Gita-Jayanti in a similar way on 13th December, 2019.
